A Wellness Journey

I first visited Dr. Bill in September 2009.  Previously, I had been to three other chiropractic practices since I began having lower back problems since 2002.  One of my co-workers recommended Dr. Bill because of the positive experience she and her mother had with his treatment practices.  I was in pain and frustrated and felt I had little else to lose; couple that with being overweight and unable to consistently commit to a fitness plan due to my wellness level, and here was someone with a lot of work to do.

I had never experienced Dr. Bill's methods and was immediately put at ease due to the amount of information I received about the adjustment method and my long-term plan.  I continued to see Dr. Bill for regularly scheduled visits, and I was able to see rapid improvement and my required adjustment frequency decreased regularly.  In early 2010, I began to feel well enough to being a walking program and then progressed to a running program.  By June 2010, I ran my first 5K.  In September 2010, one year after visiting Dr. Bill, I ran my first 10K and had no pain.  I am currently training for my first half-marathon in March 2011.

Despite being a chiropractic care veteran, I must say that I have never felt this good.  Receiving such good care has allowed me to improve my fitness level and overall health, and I have reached my healthy goal weight.  Thank you, Dr. Bill, for the professional care and genuine concern with which you have treated me (and all of your patients).

After forty years of abusing my body, jumping out of airplanes and helicopters, and trying to keep up with people twenty years my junior, my back went out on me.  The pain I experienced was unbearable and turned me into a crying baby.  I was unable to stand, sit or lie down.  Dr. Bill and Dr. Adam are heroes; in one visit the pain was gone and with continued treatment I feel eighteen again.

Recovery...without surgery!

Before I met Dr. Bill Macchi and the Atlas team I had experienced neck and back pain for twenty years that started when I was a skier and snowboarder. I had been to doctors that just wanted to mask the injuries with pain medications. I had tried to repeatedly use physical therapy and standard chiropractors for many years. The pain came and went over time but always came back. In 2005, I was working over my head and experienced excruciating pain in my neck. It got so bad that I could not sit long enough to enjoy a meal with my family, drive a vehicle or ride my motorcycle without my arm going numb and becoming so painful that I had to pull over and walk around about every fifteen to thirty minutes. Painful and sleepless nights had become normal. That started a routine of doctors and pain medications again. I had a MRI done and found out that the disks between C-4, C-5 and C-6 were deformed to the point that they were choking nerves and blood flow. I was sent to a neurosurgeon for an evaluation. He recommended emergency surgery to replace the disks and fuse the three vertebrae together. I got a second and third opinion, and they all agreed that the only option was triple dissection fusion. I was worried about what this would do to my quality of life.

By a stroke of luck in 2007 I was referred to Dr. Macchi by a person that had experienced amazing things under his care. I had been to too many chiropractors and was very skeptical that he would be able to do anything to help. I told Dr. Bill this, and he was honest with me that he might not be able to correct the problem enough to keep me out of surgery, but if we started the program it would at least help with the recovery. I figured I had nothing to lose. We started his plan and within three weeks the pain had been reduced enough to contemplate a recovery (without surgery) that I could live with so I cancelled the surgery. I followed his plan and now my quality of life is wonderful! I now am able to do what I want without pain. I am able to drive and ride as long as I wish to. I have returned to my business with no problems or pain. Dr. Bill is an amazing doctor that cares about your health and well-being. I want to thank the whole Atlas team. I feel blessed to be in their care. I recommend that anyone that is in pain or contemplating surgery to try Atlas Orthogonal Therapy. It has been a life changing experience for me and there are many other patients that I have had the pleasure to speak with.

I Have My Life Back!

In 1978 I had surgery to place rods in my back to help with scoliosis. I would go for years without any significant problems. Then a problem would arise that required further surgery. In 1997 after my operation, I was in chronic pain and had to go on disability from my teaching job. Strong pain medication and physical therapy couldn't relieve this pain. I could not sit through dinner with family or friends, travel, or enjoy a round of golf. My life was miserable!

In 1998 a friend urged me to see Dr. Bill. She had heard how he had helped a friend of hers. Thinking I had nothing to lose at this point, I made an appointment. From the moment I entered the office, I knew I was in a warm, caring environment. The friendly staff made me feel welcomed, and Dr. Bill was a kind, gentle man. At first I was baffled with the treatment and wondered, "How can this help?"

Relief did not come right away, but I stuck with it. Gradually, over time, I knew we were making progress. In August of 1999 I returned to teaching full time. I am thrilled to say that now I am mostly pain free, I can play golf!!! In April I plan to fly to South Africa on a 15+ hour flight. What a blessing Dr. Bill has been to me!

I have been a patient at Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic since the spring of 1996. I originally sought relief of migraines, and have continued this therapy with good success not only for the relief of migraines, but also arthritis. I never thought I would seek chiropractic care - I really did not know much about it. However, this particular form of chiropractic treatment, I believe to be safe and effective, with remarkable results. I strongly recommend Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic.

Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic has really been an answer to my medical problems. On March 21, 1995, I was in an automobile accident in downtown Raleigh involving seven cars, and my car was a total loss. I was thankful that I was not injured very badly. Needless to say, a week later, I had severe pains running from the top of my shoulders and neck to my head.

After seven months of seeing a physical therapist and a neurologist, I did not totally recover from my back injuries. I continued having back pain, knee and foot problems. In January 1996, I met the Atlas team. I decided that maybe the method of Chiropractic could help me—and it did. I fell so much better not and I know that my body is finally aligned! I will continue coming back for monthly check-ups to be sure that I will be healthy for the rest of my life!

Thanks Atlas Team!
